I am a strong advocate for the mentally ill and have been since I was first approached by a lawyer in a psychiatric facility as a teenager. He wanted me to help him fight how the mentally ill are mistreated. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 17 after a full blown manic episode.     Great quotes. I especially like the one about not rebelling against your difficulties (handicaps/condition/etc) but accepting them as part of who you are. It’s so easy to say “this won’t happen to me, i won’t let it, etc”, but often when we look within those challenges, we can find something beautiful about it – like the ability for us to share our challenges and help/encourage/inspire/motivate others who also struggle with them.
